About Blue Ridge Table Company
I started woodworking more than a decade ago when I wanted better furniture for my own family. The first piece I built was a simple toy chest and set of blocks for my oldest daughter when she was three. Even though they were made from cheap pine with basic joinery, my youngest children are still using them over ten years later.
Frustrated with flat-pack furniture and shocked to learn that even expensive store-bought pieces weren’t built much better, I built a whole house full of furniture, a dining table, coffee table, side tables, and console, all from pine and pocket holes.
Several years later I set up a proper woodshop and began rebuilding our furniture with quality hardwoods.
Friends and family started asking for pieces. After a few pieces I took on the challenge of building 30 tables and 120 matching benches for a local sleepaway camp. Then a longtime neighbor called for nine butcher block tables. A year later they asked for a 21-foot shuffleboard table, and later two large kitchen islands to serve as the centerpiece of new event spaces.
Their satisfaction and repeat orders showed me there was real demand for thoughtful, durable furniture with character. That was the moment I decided to launch Blue Ridge Table Company.
The table is the center of family life in our home. We are a family of six now, and our large walnut dining table has hosted nightly meals, homeschool lessons, and countless gatherings with friends and family. The beautiful grain now carries years of memories. I want every table I build to become that same kind of foundation for other families, a place where traditions are made and stories are told for generations.
I love the transformation that happens in the shop. Watching rough lumber move through the jointer and planer, rough edges stripped away to reveal smooth, beautiful grain. It often reminds me of how Christ works in us, slowly stripping away what doesn’t belong, even when it feels painful at the time, to shape something far better than we could imagine. 1 Thessalonians 4 encourages us to live quietly, mind our own affairs, and work with our hands. That verse is part of the quiet inspiration behind Blue Ridge Table Company.
Because I build one table at a time, I can give every piece the attention it deserves, careful grain selection, precise joinery, and meticulous finishing. You won’t find assembly lines or shortcuts here. What you will find is a long-lasting table built to become part of your family’s story.
